International friendlies...

.. Well the one that everyone voted for to see live was unsurprisingly, Brazil V France, how quickly people forget the great exploits of the Germans!! Well anyway, the game was very open and attacking from both side, however I think they didn't receive the memo, where it said it was a friendly- because this was anything but. Both teams wanted to win at all cost, so there were tackles flying in from all sides- some good, some not so good. Benzema was perhaps the most unluckiest Frenchman, chance after chance but no goal, this isn't a stain on him, because one has to admit Julio Cesar in goal, was never going to let it in. But eventually he did let one in and surprise surprise, it was Karim Benzema and the French were infront. The Frenchman was duly rewarded for having the audacity to score against the Brazilians by getting a boot to the shoulder. It was not as severe as the " flying kick" in the World Cup final against Alonso, but it was rightly deemed as dangerous and France were down to 10 men and went on to lose. But what they have to remember- it was only a friendly!

ESPN did show Italy V Germany straight after so you didn't hear the scores by accident, but I have to admit, I was tempted to check because this game was so fast and was so open and end to end I didn't think I would be able to handle it!

The main headline before the game was about Thiago Motta. His sudden allegiance to the Italian was bemusing, he did however bring in the dirty play that we have come to expect from Inter which I didn't appreciate. He was given the only yellow card of the game and was rightly substitute after 63 minutes as he was getting more and more petulant and lashing out at Sami Khedira. The first 45 minute went so quickly that if you turned away for a second you would miss something. However I did wish that I had turned away at 16 minutes, at Miroslav Klose got the square ball from Muller and he knocked it in for the opening goal.

This Italian side showed great sprit and determination, as they never allowed their heads to go down from being a goal down for most of the game. The second half started as the first had ended- Attack, attack and attack. With 10 minutes remaining Giuseppe Rossi scored a wonderful goal and it ended all square.

Whomever said friendlies were meaningless should have seen these games!
