The fall of The Roman Empire..

Roma V Napoli was a hard game to watch, it was not only a poor performance from the home side but also a very scrappy one. This game produced a total of nine yellow cards, and 5 of them were Roma players. It was obvious that each team wanted to win it, but Napoli looked the sharper and you always knew they were going to score sooner or later. However from viewing the first half of this game, you wouldn't have been wrong for thinking it was going to end goal less or atleast in a draw. But it did liven up in the second half, and lo and behold Napoli scored on 49 minutes through curious circumstances. It was scored from the penalty spot by Cavani yet the way in which the were awarded the penalty was being highly contested. It had looked as though Marek Hamsik had fallen over himself, but he did make a meal of it making it look like there was contact, and hence the penalty.

Napoli just grew into the game and looked fiery at times, while Roma looked tire and it's sad to say, but they seemed rather toothless in attack. Roma had 58% possession but didn't know what to do with it. Throughout the entire game, they only had two shots on goal. They were going to get punished further as Edison Cavani extended the lead again on the 83rd minute. It was too late for Roma to make any kind of fight back- even with Francesco Totti, who looked tired even before he set foot on the pitch!

Napoli then continue to defy the odds and are becoming title contenders, while Roma are left to ponder about what might have been.
