Patience is a virtue…

… But not always shared among the football community. Everyone is too hungry for a win, it blinds the people to what really matters… how the game is played. But don’t be the one to say it to a group of football fans or the consequences may be dire!
This expectation, that you must win straight away or you’re simply incompetent, is an opinion that is shared by too many and rather unfair. It can also be a hindrance on the performance and can become a heavy burden for the players; to keep winning can take the enjoyment out of the game and make it predictable.

Now if you were watching a thriller and you knew how it was going to end, what would be the point of watching it? You watch a thriller because you want to be surprised by how it turns out and shocked at the end when you finally found out “who did it”, that is how you come to realise that I was a good movie, from the fact that it was full of unexpected surprises. The same could be said about a football match.

This “must win” mentality can actually impede the game and take the thrill away from it which in turn can make the game stagnate because everyone is so afraid about taking a risk, because they’re so afraid that it may not work and it may make them look silly. But in the end everyone has to realise that, it is just a game. Even though there is ton’s of money being thrown into the mix. The moment the players start thinking of it as work, some of the magic disappears.

There is something to be said about the supporters who continually demand victory and are nothing else…BORING! I know it’s nice to win, but sometimes you have to lose to get better. Losing develops character and aides in your learning process. Not only that but when you lose, you learn that there is someone out there better than you and this spurs you on to improve and get better, so one day you can put up a worthy challenge.

As a fan I understand how frustrating and disappointing it can feel when you team is on a losing streak, but then I head on up to cloud nine when they win. You really appreciate winning after you’ve hit rock bottom, trust me I know, I support Juventus! Now they are a team that have been through it all, the highs of winning and the lows of having it all ripped out from under them, and now rebuilding a better team and learning from past mistakes.
Greatness V Arrogance

You could say that the great players are the most arrogant ones, the ones who believe they are untouchable, but I don’t think this is the case. A great player is one who enhances the team and has great skill and is always trying to get better. He is not a player that only looks at the short term, but a player who can see his faults and works on them while also developing different areas, so that he will not let down the team. A great player is also a professional on and off the pitch. He will always respect his colleagues even when he is competing against them.

An example of a great player is Kaka’. He has got tremendous skill and is always working hard to improve himself. He is a player that enhances the team and will do what is best for them. Kaka’ is incredibly intelligent and has great awareness for where his team mates are. If he sees that he cannot make the shot on goal he will do the smart thing and pass it to a player in a better position. He will not be so full of himself and go it alone, if he needs help, he gets it.

The greatness of Kaka’ doesn’t stop there, he is also willing to see his faults or areas to improve and work on them. He has come to realise that his incredible pace is not something he can rely on forever and he will lose it as he gets older. So not to let his team-mates down he has started working on other areas of his game, such as tackling, free kicks and he always manages to stay on his feet unlike a certain team mate of his; Cristiano Ronaldo. And what other player would make a run all the way from their own half and turn it into a scoring opportunity, without falling down?! Not Ronaldo that’s for sure!!

Those two names are what pop into my head when I think of arrogance. He is a player who has to be at the centre of attention and a player that will start sulking when things don’t go his way and instead of trying to fix his problems will blame some one else. To me this is both selfish and childish, because he will not take responsibility of his own actions.

His arrogance reached new levels when in the 07-08 season Kaka’ won the Ballon D’or and he came second, instead of praising his colleague for achieving what he couldn’t and recognising that there are players out there that are better than him, he would claim how he was robbed and how he was better than Kaka’.

Now to me this is arrogance, he refuses to look at his own faults, work as a team or stay on his feet! So not only is he the most arrogant player he is also the feeblest, which is a bit ridiculous considering his size. Now that these two players are on the same team sheet, one has to wonder will there be bad blood but we will also see who really is the greatest. I could go on forever but I like to give people the chance to prove me wrong, we’ll see if by working with Kaka’ he’ll actually develop into a decent professional.

Bourne 4??!!!

Now I love these films as much as the next person...but a fourth film will just be ridiculous!!!! What will the story be; Bourne starts a job in the government after what they did to him! Bourne Ultimatum felt like the end, he had gone full cycle, the premise of these films was that he had lost his memory and was fighting to remeber who he was and to stay alive. By the third film he had remembered everything. If they do decide to do another Bourne movie, it will destroy any credibility the first ones had and it will be more like James Bond... a never ending story which will just frustrate the original fans..PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!!

Christian Bale....

.... Is probably one of the finest actors of our time! He's dedicated, hardworking and immerses himself in the roles that he does. The way he can swich from accent to accent is amazing, and the fact that he we do whatever he has to, to make sure he is perfect for the part is awe inspiring. It is fitting then, that the finest actor should play the worlds greatest detective.. Batman.
Batman is also a man who makes himself super through sheer will and determination, these two men are so alike that one has to stop and think....is Christian Bale the real Batman?

The Proposal

A funny film but you had a feeling it could have been a lot better. Sandra Bullock was hilarious and her little feud with the dog had me in stitches! The comic timing between Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock was impressive, but he is Berge so what do you expect. This film had it's cringe worthy moments, I mean you don't really want to see them naked! But it was a typical rom-com with a predicable outcome, but still worth a watch if your in the mood for a laugh.

Gigi Buffon

Gianluigi Buffon is highly regarded as the world’s best goalkeeper, and they’re right, but there is the fast competition from Inter’s custodian, Julio Cesar, he is fast becoming frustratingly good. I say this because it get awfully frustrating seeing him save attempts on goal when you’re a Juve fan!

A goalkeeper is probably the most important player in the game. A game can still go on if you don’t have enough midfielders or defenders, You just change strategy to adapt to the situation. But what do you do without a decent goalkeeper?

Being a goalkeeper is probably one of the most stressful jobs. This may be hard to believe but it’s true, a goalkeeper can have a good match but then lose it in the dying seconds. The sad thing is that they will not be remembered for how they defended the goal for 89 minutes but they will be demonized by the one they let in. It’s easy to blame the keeper rather than looking at the real issue. I mean the keeper is just one man, what happened to the four men defending or even the midfielders for letting the ball get that far into their own half? I mean no wonder Buffon was suffering from depression, this kind of expectation, that you must never let a goal in, can be very daunting
