Should female officials be allowed to referee major games?? Well that is the question and the answer in my humble opinion is leaning more towards no. I believe they can do the job, it was evident after the Liverpool game, after she had made a very important decision, that they can..but should they. I mean the evidence is all out there..that when they are introduced the game focus tends to shift towards them, whether or not they know the rule etc, and the female ref tends to be the main focus of discussion and not the game.
Just look what happened, Andy Gray was chatting off air and he said something that has been way out of proportion, no matter what he said he is still allowed to have opinions and he should be able to talk about them in private.... afterall this is a free country, isn't it? If females are brought in everyone will have to tip toe around them and the banter between commentators would shift and it will ultimately make women seem weak and in need of extra protection. Is that what we really want?
