Juventus V Catania

A must win game for Juventus, two draws on the trot, they couldn't afford to drop any more points. Antonio Conte has does something incredible for the club and fans, they remain unbeaten in 24 games...not an easy feat!!

Juve started this game just one point behind Milan, and with them playing Milan next week, they couldn't afford to slip up. Unfortunately the Milan giants thought the same as they beat Cesena by a 3-1 margin. Juve had over 60% possession with 29 shots but only 11 were on target. You may be fooled into thinking it was an easy game if you just look at the stats, but don't let that fool you as it was a hard fought victory and by midpoint it could have easily been another draw. Catania had 8 shot with only 6 on target, but that matters not as it only takes one mistake, one lazy pass for it to start to unravel, and that mistake happened early on in the 4th minute when Pablo Barrientos slotted the ball passed a fully stretched Gianluigi Buffon. Where as in seasons past, Juve would have begun to panic and rush for the equaliser, this team kept their composer and continued playing their game. Although I did start to see the Bianconeri start to shoot whenever they got the ball when it would have been better to keep possession or pass it, however this didn't happened too much to make me worry.

The Old Lady had to wait until the 22nd minute for Andrea Pirlo to get his first goals in the black and white of Juventus. The free kick was classic Pirlo, yet if the goalkeeper had arranged his wall properly it could have been thwarted. Similar with the next 2 goals, they were helped by the sending off of Marco Motto which gave Juve an advantage, but it was more to do with bad goalkeeping than anything else.

Juve should carry this momentum to the next game and just realise Milan might be harder and more motivated to beat us... And one final thing, when celebrating try not to hurt one another!
