It has become so obvious to me how much we have fallen as people, as a society we have regressed so much it's as if the Enlightenment never happened, instead of trying to uncover the truth by using tools such as logic and reason, we look towards superstition. There is one major reason why this is happening, and it is Religion. Religion and the interpretation can be very detrimental to society, it can lead to the build up of hatred. mistrust and suspicion to build up to name but a few, because ultimately almost every religion claim to be better that the next.
Religion can also be thought of as a very selfish way to live because ultimately you practice it to make sure you go to heaven at the expense of other take for exam the Bible one passage says ;" be fruitful and multiply and have dominion over the all the fish in the sea and the fowl in the air" this is rather a destructive way to live as we see now with diminishing resources and the extinction of so many other species. It may also say be kind to one another and the planet we call home but people have decided to forget about that!
When I hear people speak about certain tragedies that has happened and then hearing them say that "that's the way it's mean to be" or " it's part of God's plan" it leaves me fuming, not at God, but their refusal or laziness to discover what really happened, curiosity and our thirst for knowledge is what makes us human. So many people are just willing to believe in books written thousands of years ago without even thinking to question the logic of it all.
Certain people believe that education ends in the classroom, but I believe for us to have a functioning society, we must never abandon the search for knowledge.
