Major Blooper by Platini..

The comments made by UEFA President Michael Platini recently have caused a bit of a stir, he commented about how Juventus should consider themselves to be in the final 8 of the Champions League and how Celtic stood no chance.

As a Juve fan myself, I had a rather mixed feeling about this, on one hand I was glad that Juve were once again held in such high esteem, but on the other I felt a little uneasy. He was being incredibly unfair to a team that beat Barcelona, showing that they had quality but he was also opening Juve up to the conspiracy theories, should luck determine their victory. I for one am sick of Juventus being associated with scandal and these comments didn’t help!

Platini is the president of the competition and should be smart enough not to comment on the game, as the media will inevitable take this and whip everyone into a frenzy. Platini is known for being honest and open, but this is one situation that the former Juventus player should have kept his mouth shut.

Celtic have shown that they have the quality and the will to get this far, and lest we forget, it’s called The Champions League for a reason; they are the best teams in their respective Leagues. I’m just glad that no one from the Juve came out and said something like this. They seem to have their heads screwed on right, as Captain Gigi Buffon has nothing but good words for his opposition and the young keeper, he even went as far as saying he “ could be one of the best young goalkeepers”. Now that is class!

The Old Lady would be wise to ignore the comments made by Platini, if they start to believe it, complacency may set in and that is always a mistake! Anything can happen over two legs and the loss of Giorgio Chiellini will mean that Juve will have to be extra sharpe!
