Gigi Buffon

Gianluigi Buffon is highly regarded as the world’s best goalkeeper, and they’re right, but there is the fast competition from Inter’s custodian, Julio Cesar, he is fast becoming frustratingly good. I say this because it get awfully frustrating seeing him save attempts on goal when you’re a Juve fan!

A goalkeeper is probably the most important player in the game. A game can still go on if you don’t have enough midfielders or defenders, You just change strategy to adapt to the situation. But what do you do without a decent goalkeeper?

Being a goalkeeper is probably one of the most stressful jobs. This may be hard to believe but it’s true, a goalkeeper can have a good match but then lose it in the dying seconds. The sad thing is that they will not be remembered for how they defended the goal for 89 minutes but they will be demonized by the one they let in. It’s easy to blame the keeper rather than looking at the real issue. I mean the keeper is just one man, what happened to the four men defending or even the midfielders for letting the ball get that far into their own half? I mean no wonder Buffon was suffering from depression, this kind of expectation, that you must never let a goal in, can be very daunting
