Why Welfare?
A developed society is one that takes care of every citizen, from the elderly to the students looking for work and even the hardworking immigrant. But lately the vast consensus is that these people are "mouchers" and "lazy" and that they somehow don't deserve help. This notion has been exasperated by shows like Benefit Street that portrays people as having fun living on £72 a week and that people just become lazy and rely on "handouts", but the fact is people are struggling and no matter what Ian Duncan Smith says, you can't survive on this. The media did this show on purpose to get the public angry against each other and welcome and even encourage cuts, what kind of society is this? Not a developed one.
The most glaring fact is that people have become increasingly selfish, its all about them getting ahead at the expense of others, this is a very American way of thinking and it's very sad indeed. People who are employed are very snobbish when it comes to people on benefits, but what they don't realise is that they will probably need the very same benefits in the coming weeks but they aren't thinking about that, all they are thinking about is that you shouldn't get it. The other thing that has made society demonize people on benefits is how the media and politicians portray people on benefits, they always seem to be people of colour and/or immigrants- and you thought racism was dead!
The gap between the rich and poor is wider than it was pre WW2 and it is in part because the mainstream media and the fact that less people are getting a good education thanks to all the public sector cuts, it has become far too easy for blame to be put on each other rather than the mistakes of the "toff" class and the banksters.
Stop believing everything the mainstream media tells you and become more critical of Politicians- they have made the policies that have shaped your lives not the people who need help just to pay the rent.- QUESTION MORE.
A progressive society will not allow for so few people to have so much. A developed society should be working towards a more equal society and helping people get out of poverty not actively encourageing it by getting people trapped in debt by pushing them towards cheap credit and promoting schemes like " help to buy" that only helps people get indebted further.

We must if we continue to do nothing.

Distractions Galore
Dictatorship under the guise of a democracy
This is perhaps the most insidious forms of dictatorships
because it provides you with the illusion of freedom, but due to the spying
revelations and the torture reports that illusion is starting to wane, at least
for some, there are those that are so blind or deluded that actually believe
the West is a democracy that every other country should aspire to- Give me a
break!
The average person would associate a dictatorship to a
violent military regime, you know, one of those Middle Eastern countries, no
one would believe that they are living in an “undercover dictatorship” and
instead of having arm guards on the street
although that will be arriving soon!) we have the television spouting
miss- information and other forms of distraction 24 hours a day 7 day a week.
According to Wikipedia: “A dictatorship is a form of
government in which absolute power in a dictator or a small clique or a
governmental organisation or a group in which absolute power is so concentrated”.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?? It goes on to say how after monopolizing
all that power it uses various tools to try and make sure that their power
remains strong.
Wikipedia describes democracy as:” A system of government in
which all the people of a state or politity are involved in making decisions
about its affairs, typically through voting to elect representatives to a
parliament or similarly assembly. It
consists of four element:
1.
A political system for choosing and replacing
the government through free and fair elections.
2.
The active
participation of the people, as citizens in politics and civic life
3.
Protection of human rights of citizens
4.
A rule of law in which the law and procedures
apply equally to all citizens”
Now I ask all of you to step back and try to see whether we are actually
experiencing any of this. First of all we don’t have free and fair elections,
the moment you let Lobbying get its ugly mitts in, it is rigged against your
interests and the corporate interest takes over.
Secondly, where is this so-
called “active participation” by the people, they are to bust being distracted
by trivial things like The X factor or Eastenders to name a couple, and this is
one of the major tools that the current power uses to stay in power, the other
way a people could become more active is through protests.. but the UK
government has criminalized this and also they have declared war on any type of
real investigative journalism, so we don’t even know what they are doing in our
name. The third point is really interesting. Where does extreme rendition,
torture and spying on everyone through every possible devise fall under “
protecting the human rights of the citizens??
And finally, probably the most
obvious but also the most ignored, tell me, if a private citizen stole as much
money as the banksters did would they get away with it?? The answer is a
resounding no! They would be in jail they would not be getting any bonuses and
be allowed to continue their thievery under a different name.
Do you now understand how backwards the Western world has become?
