Zero Dark Thirty

I recently made one of the biggest mistakes in my life. the first was watching Twilight and the most  recent was watching this propaganda film. It was racists, one sided and was extraordinarily simplistic. I am just so glad that this film didn't get any major awards, if it had it would have been a travesty.
The film starts of with a recording of the 9/11 victim to ingrain it into the mindset of the audience that everything they did was in response to this and they are evil. The world just isn't that simple, you can't just say that a whole race of people deserve to die because of the actions of a minority.

The actors and film makers may think that they were being shocking and controversial by showing scenes of torture and that this is why they got snubbed at the Oscars. That simply isn't true, we're used to seeing torture in film and tv, does anyone remember 24? The controversy was that they were implying that torture is necessary and look, we caught OBL that way, so it works. This will lead to a generation of kids believing it is the right thing to do. The whole issue of getting false information through coercion has been overlooked, but people wont look at that, they will associate torture with the death of the boogeyman.
And the who imagery throughout the film, clearly draws you to make the connection that the Burka is something to be suspicious off and people with beards are the bad guy.

This film glosses over the fact that these people are living with oppression and extreme poverty and are constantly seeing their loved ones killed. Like at the end, when the children are witnessed to killing of their family, how do you think they feel? Will they be grateful for you and the so called liberation you bring?!!

A poor film, nothing different from any other movie that glorifies the military- 0 out of 5!

Serie A Sunday

A lot had happened before theses games, most importantly AC Milan beat Barcelona in the Champions League and Inter beat Cluj in the Europa League while Napoli were dumped out of Europe, but it was mostly good news for Italian teams and should show the rest of Europe that Serie A is still a league that demanads your respect!
The first game was Juventus V Siena, this was a game that would have brought up some emotions for Juve Coach Antonio Conte, because he was the tactician that got Siena promoted to Serie A before taking the Juve job. The Old Lady had to get back to winning ways after their 1-0 loss to Roma last weekend and their lead at the top of the table was cut to 4 points.
Juventus played their A game and made sure they were in control, the stats say that Juve just had 57% of possession, which is good by normal standards but we have all started to expect more from Juventus. Yet they were the team that were able to do something productive with the time they had. Through the entire game they had 19 shot with 6 on goal to Siena's 5 shots and 2 on goal and were good enough to force a save out of Gianluigi Buffon.
It took Juventus 30 minutes to get on the score sheet, Stephen Lichtsteiner got on the end of a Mirko Vucinic cross to put it just beyond the keeper. Juventus went into the half time break with just a 1 goal lead, so that should in itself show you that the Tuscan side were no push-overs! After the interval it was over 25 minutes before the second Juve goal that came thank to some intelligent play by Andrea Pirlo an wonderful execution by Sebastian Giovinco. Three minutes later Giorgio Chiellini made his long awaited return from injury, there were talks that he would make his return for the Napol game, and I got to admit a part of me was a bit nervous with his return. As some report have said that he has sustained an ankle injury, but let's hope it's not serious. To top off a fantastic evening Paul Pogba got his 5 goal of the season- who needs a top class goal scorer when you're a top class team.
Juventus have now extended their lead at the top to 7 points, but that could be reduced to 4 depending on how Napoli fare tonight against Udinese.

Fight the Future

Fascism can be traced back to the 19th century although the Fascism that everyone recognises was shaped and fused by the World Wars and their aftermath. Fascism is a word derived by the Italian word fasces, meaning a bundle of rods with an axe blade protruding that signified the authority of magistrates in Imperial Rome, basically it was describing how a group can be stronger than the individual- one rod could be snapped, but a group of rods all tied up would be more difficult to snap. The defining theme of Fascism is embodied in one belief: Strength through Unity.

Fascism is a political response to the failure of economic development, but having said that, it was always a cultural phenomenon before it was ever a political force. Things like a rise in unemployment, trade union being dissolved, freedom of speech and assembly eroded and the freedom of press being taken away, this can only lead to frustration and anger, that and the fact that the public are less educated due to monumental tuition fees can only result in violence, because we all know that the less educated are the easiest to deceive and more likely to vent their anger at the wrong people.

As a result of all this anger and frustration, people will naturally look to the easiest answers, an as we all know, the easiest route is not always the right one. How do you think a person like Hitler ever gained power?? He got into power with the support of most of the people, people were confused and angry and went for someone who claimed to have the answers to everyone’s woes, it was only later that people realised their mistake, and by then it was too late. People laugh when I say it could happen again, but what they don’t realise that each dictator learns from each other and are more subtle about how they enslave the public, like now they are feeding us all this BS about how austerity is the only way to save the economy, they leave out the part that they defrauded everyone causing this crisis and the small fact that austerity doesn’t work, just look at Spain and Greece!

People are simple creatures and see good or evil, they believe that Hitler just popped out of nowhere not realising that it took years for him to get that power. Maybe people should watch fewer movies and realise that it will come if there is not sufficient resistance. Fascism was never truly extinguished; it was just put on the naughty step while we became victims of another force- UNFETTERED CAPITALISM.

People will feel increasingly angry and alienated and this will inevitably lead to racism and elitism, which are the two components that fascism will need to grow unfettered. The public will deny it’s happening here because they believe this is such a “great” country. But do they forget the whole fuss about John Terry and Anton Ferdinand, and don’t get me started on the fans!! Not only this but in the world of politics they are starting to blame the immigrant and are trying to introduce tighter restrictions, this will ultimately lead to frustrations and tensions running high between different communities. I thought this country was embracing different cultures?? Yeah right!! It will only tolerate you if you go down to the pub with them and get so pissed you can’t remember that the public sidewalk is not a urinal!

People will continue to deny anything is wrong with this society, and it is in no thanks to the type of media we get over here- it’s total trash! Either there will be some gossip about some celebrity or just pictures of half naked women; it dumbs down everything to such a basic level that people are incapable of understanding anything slightly complex. And that’s just the newspapers and magazines, the television news has no quarrels with showing what the people want and not what they need to understand the world around them. I weep for the future especially when I hear this current generation talk!
I want to believe that there is any hope, but it's just so hard!

Bubblegum nation

Memory is a funny thing, sometimes you forget the most basic piece of information but you remember something you did as a child. People often choose to remember certain things over another because of some kind of trauma or they simply choose to forget it. Society is guilty of the latter. People have forgotten that they had rights, rights that people before them fought and died for, and that we are just giving them away or simply letting them erode away.

A lot of that has to do with complacency; we have been lulled by all these distractions that we don’t even see that the most basic civil liberty has been sacrificed. As people we have forgotten that we have the right to assembly, freedom of speech and to a fair and balanced press. Now, people who go on any kind of march or show any dissent are made to regret it. Any person that does anything that upsets “ the powers that be” will be labelled as a trouble maker and at worse put in jail, whatever happens, you know their life will be ruined.

And the press, do I even have to say anything??? It is beyond pitiful! Every station I switch to they are showing fluff pieces, no journalistic integrity can be found, and they are extremely one sided. And no station has the nerve to look deeper into the issue and find the real reason, and you know why??? Because many of these news stations are run by private corporations, and if they dare to say anything that might upset the people upstairs, they will lose funding and be taken of the air.

In order to find a news station that actually provides good quality news you will have to be will to spend a lot of time looking for it, but because many people are at work all day they don’t want to make that effort, so they just are exposed to the sensationalised, one sided stories that are put out their just to get you all hot and bothered about something that is only half true.

By not having the complete picture and being exposed 24/7 to this “news” will only lead to tensions within their community, and that combined with poor education can quickly escalate to episodes of violence. People may have forgotten, but the tuition fee has been raised to £10,000 a year! And that’s just the starting rate. This is a huge deterrent for young people to go into higher education, because they will come out of university with this enormous debt and they will find it increasingly hard to find employment.

And as a result of poor education and constant exposure of sensationalised news, will equal a nation of idiots. Is that what we really want for future generations, for them to get dumber and dumber and not be able to have a good quality of life because they have not got the required skills or because they did not go to the “right” schools? And why didn’t they get into the right schools…Because they were born into poverty, and how did it get that way?? Because we let it, because we refused to fight for our rights!

Instead of placing the blame on the right people ( Bankers, the rich, the government) we have been tricked into blaming each other. Recently there has been a lot of blame put on immigrant workers; people are claiming that they’re stealing all our jobs. What a bunch of horse crap! The only reason why the work is there, is because you are too arrogant and lazy to do it yourself, did you really want to be an office cleaner or a maid? These people are doing the jobs that you won’t do, so why don’t you just count your blessings and aim a little higher!

The Economic collapse is due to the fraudulent behaviour of the banking sector, not due to the cleaners. Don’t people wonder why the banks are still allowed to do what they want? The government chooses to look the other way on their crimes but if the ordinary Joe steals a loaf of bread they will get 6 months in jail, and what will they say to justify this?? They will say that by stealing that loaf of bread, he/ she caused enormous damage to the business!! What about the banks, they’ve been stealing from everyone for years, what’s their punishment, oh yes, a bailout so they can continue with their thieving ways. Where’s my bailout?!!!! Have people forgotten that the bailout consisted of our taxes? People are so blind to how blatantly corrupt this country is but they are so eager to point out the flaws in other countries, it makes me sick to my stomach!

The government has let this go on because they believe the banking sector is more valuable than the people! how is this allowed? How did we let them forget about who really matters? We were and still are in such a state of denial, that we can’t see that the system that we have placed all our faith in has failed us! I urge the people to snap themselves out of this zombie state and take back control of their lives.

And just like bubblegum the flavour and any substance regarding the real issues will be gone within 2 minutes!

Juventus- victims of cultural stereotypes?

Juventus and controversy

These two words seem to be forever in twined. Juve are a club that has been working hard the last few years to try and get rid of this tag, but somehow it seems to find them. The latest outrage from the British media came following their 3-0 victory against Celtic in the Champions League and Stephen Lichtsteiner’s unorthodox style of marking.

People have complaints over the contact he had with the opposing player but has anyone stopped to think how the Celtic player was trying to get the better of Gianluigi Buffon? I’m pretty sure that’s cheating. All Stephen was doing was trying to protect his keeper, like Marchisio had said in a previous interview, they studied Celtic, and they knew this was the way they would get ahead like they did against Barcelona. In that game one Celtic player would stay by the keeper, ready to knock down the ball for Samaras to knock in.

Initially the Swiss was just holding his ground and keeping some space between him and the keeper, there was no foul! And also this was all going on before the ball was kicked and the Celtic player was not near the ball, co there was no obstruction on Lichtsteiner’s part. Although by the end I would have liked to see a little more subtlety on the part of the Swiss international.

All of this has be blown way out of proportion, (in no small part to Sky Sports) it has somewhat overshadowed the game. What I find enraging was how everyone conveniently forget that the home side spent much of the first half kicking Andrea Pirlo!! So what, they can dish it out but they can’t take it. And not only that, but they have to tarnish the entire game over a few incidents. I thought English players were meant to be “ real men” and the Europeans were a bunch of wimps who were always seen complaining at press conferences?

What people should really be questioning is the small fact that they couldn’t score throughout the game, yes, they had most off the possession but in what areas? Also they had more shots on goal, but they were never really good enough to trouble Buffon. Juve knew that Celtic had to score, so they were quite happy to let them have the ball, and then once they had tired themselves out running like headless chickens, Juventus made their move.

In the end it was brain over brawn and they can’t accept it!

Celtic V Juventus

This was not just a game for the Juventus fans But fans of Italian football. The Italian game had to sacrifise a European spot to the Germans, so they had only one other Italian team in there and that's Milan, and the face Barcelona which is no easy feat! Juve had been out of the European scene for a few years now and had to entertain, and they sure did!

Alessandro Matri scored within 3 minutes, even though Claudio Marchisio came running in to make sure the ball crossed the line, replays showed that it crossed the line first time. Marchisio did have another shot soon after, yet it went wide, had that gone in it would have calmed some nerve, most notable mine!

Celtic were a little too physical, especially with Andrea Pirlo, who was showing some rare signs of anger. Celtic were obviously told that if they stop Pirlo they would stop The Old Lady from working their magic, and that did to frustrate the away side, but what Celtic failed to take into account was that Arturo Vidal, Claudio Marchisio and even Leonarrdo Bonucci are rather good at passing the ball.

The Scottish side will have some complaints, most notably the marking at corners by Stephen Lichtsteiner. He was lucky to get away with his antics, but what people forget is that the Celtic player was trying to cheat, you cannot get in front of the keeper like that. This is one of the ways Celtic got that famous win against Barcelona, they kept one man in front of the keeper to knock the ball down for Samaras to get. The Bianconeri had studied Celtic and were not going to be so easily done by the Scots. However Stephen could have been a little more subtle about it, he risked leaving his team with 10 men.

The first half ended 1-0, which left Celtic with a lot of work to do. The second half saw mostly Celtic pressure and even though the stats may say they had more shots on goal, they were never going to trouble Gianluigi Buffon. Juve let Celtic just tire themselves out with speculative shots and let them run after loose ball and on the 77th minute Marchsio got his name on the score sheet with a beautifully taken goal. And to kill off the game,Mirku Vucinic added a third on the 83rd minute.

Even though Juve seem well and truly through they sill have a bit to sort out in their game, and you never really know, I'm sure Milan fans remember that famous night in Istanbul!

See no evil, Hear no evil

Why don't we take a leaf from the Iceland model and jail the bankers? Their economy is on the mend and the people didn't have to suffer years of austerity, and I answer, it's because the government has go its priorities messed up, instead of protecting the people it decides to protect the corporations. Why is there no outrage about this???

Welcome home Mario!

Yesterday was all about one man.. Mario Balotelli, and he didn't disappointed, he brought his A game. He was hardworking and unselfish and he was well behaved. Mario has always been singled out in the UK in my opinion. He had always played well win he put the Italy Jersey on and he showed he had talent, the reason why he may not have shown it in the premier league is because, maybe just maybe, it was this place.

The media has to take alot of the blame, and the culture here is just sick! I mean why do people care so much about what he does in his private life??? People are so quick to judge him because he's in the limelight, but people forget that he's only 22 and he has an obscene amount of money. Just try to think back and think about how you were at 22, I was a twat at that age, but no one knew because I didn't have an army of "reporters" following my every move.

Maybe he will learn from new Milan team mate: Stephen El Sharawaay, this young lad is very well behaved and hardworking and humble... and do you know why? he has people looking out for him not just waiting for him to make a mistake and fall. Not only that, but his mother still looks after his finances! Now tell me, what premiership player is like this? And I answer, no one because they're all so arrogant and stupid!!

You see, Balotelli was not the only one he was just the one that everyone decided to focus on. Another reason why Balo acted so crazy was because he was bored, because I don't believe there's much to do in Manchester, just ask Tevez!!
At Man City he was low on the pecking order, he had to compete with the likes of Aquero, Tevez and Dzeko and I can't remember the rest! Milan is one of the most Glamorous place in Italy and I'm sure he'll have plenty to do, also he will be the focus of the club and there will always be people to advise him and give him a hug! As Marchisio and everyone else did at the Euro's

The Flying Donkeys V The Old Lady

Chievo V Juventus

This game was a must win for Juventus as Napoli were level on points, thank to their victory against Catania. Therefore the three points were vital if they were to keep their place at the top. Juve had more than enough motivation, and provided an entertaining and hard fought victory.

The game started off with Juve in full control and dictated the play, yet Chievo were not exactly push -over’s, they had enough fight in them. However, by the 10th minute so did Juve, when Alessandro Matri opened the scoring with a skilful shot on goal. Matri and Sebastian Giovinco seemed to have a fitting partnership upfront, one would hope that Antonio Conte sees this also and uses this partnership more.

The Flying Donkeys didn’t let this deter them one bit as they remained organised and ready to counter attack. On the 23rd minute Gianluigi Buffon was called into action as an on form Alberto Poloschi had an shot that looked destined to end up inside the near post.

Just before the interval, Juve got their second goal to help cement the three points. Stephen Lichtsteiner got on the end of a wonderfully worked goal, where Matri and Giovinco linked up well and then The Atomic Ant did a delicate back heel to Stephen and there was no chance that he was going to miss it from six yards. The Swiss had an shot just moments before denied, but had that gone in there would have been outrage from the home side as Lichtsteiner had handled the ball.

Juve were a bit slow to get going in the second half and Chievo used this to their advantage as the kept on pressing Juve and did well to keep the ball. This was an excellent response by the home side after going down by two goals, and their hard work paid off as in the 52nd minute Cyril Thereau pulled one back for the home side. This in turn resulted in a rather nervy and clearly shaken Juve side, the impenetrable Juve back line had seen flabbergasted.

But in the end, Juve just seened to want the victory more and did everything they could to secure all three points. Juve may have won this game, but they were taught an important lesson, DON’T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN AND EVEN A 2 GOAL ADVANTAGE IS NOT ENOUGH.
