Review of Tron..

I know, I know, it's a bit late but I finally got around to watching it, and what can I say- it was an odd film. The original was groundbreaking, I mean networked computers and virtual reality seemed so futuristic, and it was... for that time, some things really shoudn't be re made and should remain a cherished memory. Making this film now is alittle lazy because most of these concepts are a reality, but back then it was ahead of it's time. The storyline was a bit simplistic but it was visually appealing. But that is not enough for most people, and that is why it only gets 2 1/2 out of 5. It was entertaining enough but rather muddled at times.

Juventus - Lazio 2-1 Full Highlights (SKY)

The madness of Mou....

You have to admit, he is entertaining but is he killing the game? He likes to play mind games and get the opposition all riled up... but is that good for the game? It's like he has to resort to these dirty tricks to win the game, because in the end that is what he's doing. Like before the big game against Barca', he was saying how the grass is going to be longer to try and stop their style of play..how ridiculous is that- what, he can't find another way to beat them he has to resort to this.
He actually believes that Barca' get favourable treatment and that's why they're winning, no Jose', it's because they actually play football while your team is to busy knocking them around. Has it ever occured to him that the reason his team lost a man and the game is because.. he has got his tactics wrong? His team hardly came out to play and it was on their home turf,, so they have no one to blame but themselves! What really made me laugh so bad that I started crying, was when he blamed Unicef for Barca' winning!!!His explanation was that everyone thinks Barcelona are so innocent, No... maybe if the players weren't not have such visible tantrums and pushing players of the ball like Adebayour and Ronaldo, people will give you the benefit of the doubt. But if you come out and blame everyone else for your mistakes..you'll run out of friends pretty soon.

He also insights violence and really winds the opposing players and the fans with his antics at the press conferences. This may be funny to watch, but when the tension boils over, than you get a match like tonight- full of niggling fouls. I tell you one thing, it wont be entertaining when he starts a fan riot, which it could easily snowball into. What Jose' has to realise, the world is not against him..it's just that he's an ass!

Juventus vs Catania 2-2 (23-04-2011)

The great exodus...

...Is almost inevitable now. If Buffon wasn't going to leave before, he might now! I mean how in God's name did they surrender a 2 goal lead? Whatever the excuses were, they only have themselves to blame, they should have been able to win this game without breaking a sweat, I mean, this is Juventus. The once Grand Old Lady of Italian football with a tradition of winning.. has begun to spiral out of control. Other than Buffon, there have been rumours of Chiellini leaving, now Saturdays game was evident that tthey need to hold onto their defenders!!... and with Juve giving up the chance of being level with Roma and have now almost certainly kissed the chances of being in the Champions League goodbye, it seems inevitable. I do hope that they stay and try to help Juve return to the top, but I will not begrudge any of them for wanting to move on.

AC Milan vs Sampdoria (3-0) Goals & Highlights - 16/04/2011

Juventus V Fiorentina

Not exactly the result they were hoping for.. but at least they didn't lose, instead they each get a point, but Juve's hope for fourth spot may be slipping, as they could have made for a serious challenge with Roma losing to Palermo. But like Marchisio said all they can do is work hard and they wont give up. That's all a fan wants is to see their team fight to the very end, what we don't want to see is, just rolling over and accepting the worse.

The game had show an almost equal amount of time on the ball with Juve with 51% of the possession and Fiorentina with 49%... but what was evident was that Fiorentina were using that time better than Juve. La Viola had 24 shots with 4 on goal to Juve's 8 shots and 2 on goal. Fiorentina were the more organised side and controlled the game, and it pains me to say this but.. they deserved to win.

Milan V Sampdoria

Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Clarence Seedorf certaintly turned that myth on its head when he scored the opener on the 20th minute. And what a goal it was, it was almost as if Andrea Pirlo was playing through him..... Pirlo had been teaching Seedorf some tricks since he was out through injury and it clearly paid off!

I was hoping that this would be a goal feast, and I have to admit I was slightly let down by Samp as they had a measly 23% possession with only 4 shot and only one on target. Samp have clearly be unable to fill the hole left by Antonio Cassano and Giampiero Pazzini. The two have departed to the 2 Milan clubs, with Cassano going to the red half while Pazzini went to the blue half. Sampdoria are currently third from bottom and fighting for survival, while the Rosoneri are enjoying the view from the top and have a 6 point lead from nearest rivals Napoli.

But this was a win that came with a heavy cost, as Alex Pato limped off with a hamstring injury. With Pato injured and Ibrahimovich still serving a suspension for " swearing" at the official, it will certainly be an entertaining end to an unpredictable season.

Is Calcio on the fall?

Inter were knocked out of the Champions League, the last representative of Italian football...but does that necessarily mean that Italian football is in decline?

I really don't think so, let me explain, first of all there aren't that many Italians in Inter, secondly the League is tighter than ever, I mean who would have guessed that Napoli would be fighting for the title?! Italian football is going through a rebuilding phase after what happened to their credibility in 06. And in order to rebuild, everything must be brought back to the foundations and work from there, otherwise they would just fall even further if the foundations aren't set. Least we forget Italy are now back in the top 10 of the FiFa rankings.... and how did they achieve this? By building a new Azzurri with secure foundations, and of course by winning their games in style. The Azzurri has really changed, instead of relying on a talisman like Totti or Del Piero, they work as a team and collectively put the work in.

Least we forget, there is only 1 English team left in Europe. You can't judge a nations football without looking at the whole picture.. not just the club competitions.

Juventus vs Genoa 3-2 (Matri Goal) - 10-04-2011

Juventus v Genoa

A little bit of luck and alot of determination secured all three points. And how important these points were, as Roma won against Udinese. this had meant that Juve are just 5 points away from a Champions League spot. Now if they can keep winning and lady luck is on our side then maybe just maybe, they can clinch it- well, we can dream?!

It started pretty slow, but Juve were in control but then a freak own goal from Leonardo Bonucci gave Genoa an unlikely lead, and to be absolutely honest, they shouldn't have for the opening goal as the Bianconeri were the better team. After their wins against Brescia and Roma, there was a hunger about this Juve side that had been missing for a long time. Too often had I seen heads starting to slump when the conceded a goal, but not this time, this time they fought back twice to win 3-2.

Okay the first Juve goal came from a Genoa player but that can be the universe trying to maintain the balance from the earlier own goal. It took a Juventus player atacking player until the 63rd minute to score a goal, and it came from Alessandro Matri before him Simone Pepe equalised for the home side. He has impressed me in this game with his quick turning and ability to get the ball out from under his feet and score. The thing that is starting to worry me a bit is Krasic, he is starting to look a bit unappreciated as later in the game Toni had a shot on goal and the Serb was free but Toni decided to go for goal himself and missed.

Toni scored in the 83rd minute to secure all 3 points and stopped me from having a panic attack!

Next week they play Fiorentina, who I fear, will be much harder to overcome. The positive thing that came out of this match were, players actually tried to stay on their feet and used their body to try and muscle their way through a challenge. Man of the Match was Simone Pepe and I remain puzzled as to why Delneri took him off and replaced him with Martinez, who actually got in the way of a goal scoring opportunity?!!

Rooney is a thug...

WHO IS SURPRISED BY THAT?I mean it's a bit hypocritical of society to want to see them being all angelic when we're not. I am by no means defending his actions, but you have to remember- he's just a footballer, so he's not very smart. I mean a kid to be so talented at a sport he must have given p his education and just spent all his time playing football. Anyone with half a brain could come up with a better choice of words to describe his emotions... but he doesn't have half a brain!!

What was he thinking?? He searched for a camera to yell down, I mean he scored a hat trick- why would he be pissed? Wouldn't he be happy, or is this how he expresses his happiness.. by swearing at everyone? But the amount of media attention this go was outrageous, it says more about the sick society we live in than it does about him!

AS Roma vs Juventus 0-2 - All Goals & Full Highlights [03-04-2011]

Roma v Juventus- The vital three points

A pulsating game, but I have to admit.. Roma did play some fine football. But the big news was that Juve didn't have Buffon! Apparently he has got a high temperature, I'm guessing all the talk about him leaving for Roma really started to heat up! Like I've said before, it won't be the same without him, but I wont begrudge him if he wants to go and start a new journey.

It wasn't a goal feat like Lazio-Napoli or as instrumental as Milan-Inter, but what this game has done for Juve and their fans, is given them some continuity and has boosted their confidence. Krasic was trying ever so hard that I was just willing him to score just to shut up all his critic and the people who think that all he does is dive. I wanted theses people to realise he has skill, and the fact that this is the second game in a row that he has scored the opener is very encouraging, it shows that he is getting back on form.

I still wasn't all that relaxed when they were up by one goal, because they would so often surrender the lead and end up losing, I'm glad they got out of that habit! They were lucky on a few occasions when Roma ran at them, but Storari was more then up for it, and put in a fine performance. I began to breathe a little easier when Matri scored the second, but when he was running towards the keeper and it was just one on one, a dark thought did flash through my mind-" what if he bottles it?" It did feel like that for a bit, but he didn't and Juve have the much needed win, let's just hope that this good luck continues for the next seven games- then they might actually be able to hold onto a few players!

Battlestar Galactica - Season 1 - Trailer- best show ever.

AC Milan vs Inter Milan 3-0 - All Goals & Match Highlights - 02/04/2011

Saturday 2 April 2011

Milan was victorious!!!

A huge sigh of relief went through my living room as Milan came out with a comfortable win. Shame on the people who thought the Rosoneri could only perform when they have Ibrahimovic at their disposal, they showed that they had the skill and determination to get past any set back. The last game against Palermo Allegri got his tactics all wrong, but it was evident that he learnt his lesson as Milan came out of this game with a 3-0 victory.

It was a open game, so open that Pato scored within the first 44 seconds. That really should have told you that Milan were out to win, and that they are not going to let the chance of winning the title since 2004 slip through their fingers.Milan were all gun ho and ran Inter ragged, Inter truly didn't know how to respond. Milan had over 50% of possession, but we all know that's not everything, but Milan also had 22 shots with 8 on goal. Which isn't a real surprise when you see all their attacking options in Robinho, Pato and the likes of Boateng and Seedorf, who don't mind taking the odd shot!

Throughout the game you could see Inter's petulant and cheap tricks coming to play, but this is what Inter were reduced to especially when Pato scored the second in the 62nd minute. The final nail in the coffin came in the 90th minute, when substitute Cassano scored from the penalty spot, the funny thing about Antonio was that he was on for a minute before getting sent off!! He got an unnecessary yellow for his celebration- which I still don't understand, if you know you'll get a card for taking your shirt off, why would you? But his second offence was just Cassano being Cassano.

Milan know have a 5 point lead with 7 games left, the title is their to lose now- but I think the sever years without the Scudetto and the fact that Inter have just 1 more title then them will be enough motivation to win it.

Milan V Inter- Title decider?

Never has a game had so much importance placed on it, than this one. The Milan Derby has always been a very heated encounter, not only because they are in the same city and a win for either side, will mean they will have bragging rights rights for the rest of the season, or the fact that Inter Coach Leonardo was a Milan legend playing for 13 years and coaching them last season... all of this does increase the intensity of it all, but most of all...it is to do with the fact that only two points separate them. A mere 2 points! All of Italy is secretly hoping that Inter lose, because let's face it....it is becoming annoying seeing them hold the trophy aloft and someone has to peg the down a notch! Could it be Milan who are victorious this evening.. Let's hope so!
